Summary:
Test wire harnesses for continuity, accuracy, and proper function, construct test/adapter cables, and perform electrical testing utilizing DITMCO test analyzer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Test wire harnesses for continuity, accuracy, and proper function.
- Layout and fabricate test adapters and cables by cutting, sorting/inventory, color-coding, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing various lengths, types, and gauges of wire, heat-shrink, and other related materials.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wire diagrams, and tables to track circuits.
- Research connector part numbers for fabrication of harness adaptor cables.
- Write DITMCO test vectors and verify test results of aircraft harnesses.
- Complete maintenance procedures on DITMCO test equipment and verify unit calibration.
- Operate tools and equipment such as wire strippers, crimpers, solder iron, wire identification and cutting machines, heat guns, and other associated tools.
- Complete paperwork and electronic job process tracking associated with work assignment.
- Ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues.
- Inspect and ensure that materials, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, tools, and product configurations comply and are in conformance with engineering drawings, company quality policies, and applicable industry standards.
- Effectively work with co-workers and management in problem solving, exploring, and implementing best practices in operations.
- Utilize computers or tablets to document actions and time by completing work order entries.
- Comply with lean manufacturing principles and work with leads and supervisors to explore and implement best practices in the manufacturing process.
- Ensure work meets quality standards set by AS50881.
Competencies/Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate at all levels and departments of the organization.
- Mathematical aptitude to perform shop math and basic understanding of drawings/schematics.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in person, on the phone, and in writing.
Computer Skills:
- Internet-based software specific to field
- MS Office
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to be on feet, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to sit.
