Floor Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, the Floor Assistant ensures that machinery throughout the designated area has sufficient raw material needed to produce quality parts.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
• Safely grinds all scrap material.
• Empties grinders.
• Places finished goods on correct pallets.
• Makes cartons needed for the shift.
• Maintains proper color and material levels for machines.
• Relieves Inspector/Packer during breaks and meals:
- Performs visual inspection of all parts packed by designated machines.
- Reports defective or unacceptable parts to QA Assistant or Shift Supervisor.
• Assists Shift Supervisor with training of new Floor Assistants.
• Responsible for housekeeping and safety of designated machine area.
• Places pallets in the correct warehouse.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Forklift Certification required.

Experience:
• Minimum 6 months as an Inspector Packer.
• One year experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably plastics.

Skills/Qualifications:
• Ability to speak, read, and write English.
• Basic math skills.
• Good hand–eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Team-oriented and respectful.
• Self-motivated and proactive.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Suggests improvements for efficiency and safety.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK CONDITIONS:
• Constant physical exertion; exposure to noise and temperature changes.
• Constant talking and hearing.
• Frequent repetitive hand motions.
• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs overhead frequently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Requires PPE: safety glasses, hearing protectors, hair/beard nets, back supports.

• No loose clothing or jewelry; uniforms required.
